Clickable Maps Using The Great New JQery Plugins
If you ever decide to replace your boring directory links for an amazing clickable map to present your web site information for counties or states of your country, look no further, I have the perfect solution.
With the new JQuery plugin javascript techniques being developed across the net, it is now exciting to use image maps again. For instance the great jquery plugin MapHilight by David Lynch actually hilights areas of coordinates that are plotted in a way that can be easily edited.
Admittedly to create a great hover over effect requires attention to detail as far as plotting coordinates goes but it’s worth the effort as you can see in my demo of a clickable map of the Portugal. Failing to make really tight coordinates can porduce undesired results…..that’s why I have created perfect map coordinates for counties and states for my latest clickable maps. However before we even start to plot coordinates we must make a decent clickable map image and this is a task untoo itself. Tracing borders and states is a time consuming business for any webmaster. To save you time, I have already created layered Photoshop Image Files of popular country maps complete with all state borders traced with guidance from Wikipedia.
